Making Democracy Work

League Activities and Events

Join us for League activities throughout the state

Rhode Island is a small state and there are League activities organized to include all members of the League in Rhode Island. Please join us.

Making Your Voice Heard at the State House

League members from throughout the state are encouraged to join the LWVRI in our advocacy and lobbying activities at the State House. The League needs people to attend hearings, submit testimony, and meet with legislators. If you would like to be more active on Smith Hill, please join us. Learn more about our issues or contact the LWVRI Advocacy Committee,,to learn how you can make your voice heard.

Book Group

The Book Group has proved to be a great new League institution. In addition to having a good time and meeting new people, we've learned a lot of history (Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick), current events (The Places In Between by Rory Stewart), and outstanding people (The Half-Life of a Zealot by Swanee Hunt). On the lighter side, we read a hilarious memoir of growing up in the 50's (The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson).

Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00pm. All are welcome to join us.

To learn more about the Book Group, call Hollie Courage at 401-274-6173 or Linda Jenkins at 401-816-0331.
